About the JSON Editor
The JSON Editor provides a full-featured editing environment with syntax highlighting, real-time validation, and one-click transformation tools. Paste or type JSON, use the toolbar to format or transform it, and copy the result — all in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste or type your JSON directly into the editor panel.
- Or edit in the tree: double-click a key or value to change it, use + to add a property or item, and the trash icon to delete. Both views stay in sync.
- Click Format to beautify your JSON with readable indentation.
- Click Minify to strip whitespace and compact the JSON to a single line.
- Click Sort to sort all object keys alphabetically — useful before comparing.
- Click Upload to load a
.jsonfile directly from your disk. - Click Clear to reset the editor to a blank state.
- Syntax errors are highlighted inline — fix the marked lines to get valid JSON.
Tips & use cases
- Every tree edit is written back to the text, so Undo (or Ctrl + Z in the text) reverts it.
- Clean up raw API responses copied from browser DevTools with a single Format click.
- Minify before pasting JSON into a request body or environment variable to save space.
- Sort keys before comparing two payloads — it eliminates key-order noise.
- The editor validates in real time, so you will catch syntax errors as you type, not after.
- Large files are supported — the Ace editor handles megabytes of JSON without slowing down.
